The Price of Glory


(chapter 2)

--0200 hours--
He starts the long march through the waste land that was once Omega Sector 0523. As Price moves across a big brush,he hears it rustle."Come out,whoever you are,I know your there!" There was silence,then " Don't shoot," they said, "were Americans!" The thought had never occured to Price that anyone,especially American, would hide out in these waste lands.
"State your names and ranks." he ordered.The one farthest to his right spoke first." Sir, PFC Donavin Schewbert, sir." Then the center one, "Sir, Corporal Jason Wonsetler, sir." Then the last one spoke,
" Sir, Private Whong Stonzie of the Army of the Republic of South Korea, sir" That was a total shocker in it's own right. 'The Koreans are involved?' he asked himself. "Where were you men stationed before taking refuge here?" he asked in a general tone. " We were all previously stationed at California H.Q until the Soviets hit it with an entire motorised infantry division and two armored divisions." He then decided that they should stay with him. "You all are coming with me. Now, MOVER OUT!!" Without objection they followed his lead.

--1735 hours--
The small squad stops to eat. There an uncomfertable conversation emerges.

" So, Wonsetler, what happened back there?" Price asked. " To be honest sir," Wonsetler stated flatly, " I'd rather not."
" I'll tell you." spoke Schewbert. " It all happened really fast, but to me it seemed like days.They came at us first with infantry and tried to breach our defenses, but we beat them back easy. Then they started to bring in the armor. They were hard to beat back since we were low on armored units, but those Rhinos were no match for our Grizzlies. Then we saw something horrible. It fired two rounds at a time, like it was the Apocalypse. So we called it the Apocalypse tank. It and it alone is what beat us."
Price started to wonder if going there was such a good idea.
